Indus House won an extremely competitive Tollbar Sports Day on a hot afternoon at King George V Stadium. Pictured above are Indus House Sports Captains, Isabelle Allenby and Mathew Bradley, with Mrs Amy Pharaoh, Curriculum Leader for PE, who presented them with the Sports Shield.
The Academy returned to the sports stadium in Grimsby for the first time in three years, with 764 students volunteering to take part in track and field events.
Mrs Pharaoh said the event enabled students who are in completely different PE groups, and who may not have had the opportunity to compete against each other in extra-curricular activities before, to experience a full day of competitive sport in an impressive athletics stadium.
"The venue is fantastic and the students really rose to the occasion," she said.
Students achieved points for their finishing positions, and Indus House took the overall title with 3983 points, with Perseus House coming a close second on 3913. Tucana achieved 3079, Lyra 3014, Vela 2639 and Orion 2099.
The prestigious 4x100m mixed year groups relay races were won by Indus House (Girls) and Vela House (Boys).
Indus Sports Captain Isabelle Allenby, said: "We are absolutely buzzing to have won today. We are known for being a sporty house and I wouldn't have expected anything less. I am really proud of everyone today."
