Magical evening at church

Phenomenal talent was on show when Waltham Toll Bar Academy held its annual Christmas Concert at All Saints Church in the village.

The Rev Pauline Cummins welcomed parents, carers, staff and guests to a memorable evening of festive music, drama and dance.

Students, many of whom starred in the academy’s production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at Grimsby Auditorium in July, gave a glimpse of next year’s big show, Peter Pan, at the same venue.

Executive Principal Philip Dickinson said: “It was standing room only.

“The talent on show was phenomenal and appreciated by all those there.

“Students involved in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory gave us a taste of what to expect in July when they will be performing Peter Pan at Grimsby Auditorium.

“It was terrific to see so many parents and carers some to support their children, which always means so much to them.

“It was an amazing evening. I thank all the staff involved in the organisation and behind the scenes.”

Co-Director of Arts and Head of Drama Gemma Carter thanked the Rev Cummins and churchwardens for the use of the church and church hall.

“Students and their families can be proud of the show and what they achieved,” she said.

“We are fortunate to have some incredibly talented young people and this is one of the opportunities when they can shine.

“Rehearsals for Peter Pan are well underway and tickets will go on sale from the Auditorium in the New Year.”

She thanked the members of staff involved in putting on the concert: Performing Arts Teachers Ryan Bridges and Laura Fuller and Music Teachers Cathy Hadley, James Longden and Rachel Davidson.
