Students & Staff Celebrate Impressive GCSE Results At Tollbar Academy

Our fantastic Year 11 students have been applauded for their efforts and dedication after receiving their GCSE results today.

The results, which are the first set of results based on examinations since the pandemic started, show that outcomes continue to be very strong – with lots of students excelling beyond all expectations.

Amongst the students celebrating was Heidi Britteon who achieved eight Grade 9s and one Grade 8. Jacob Johnson also secured six Grade 9s, two Grade 7s and two Distinctions.

Georgia Baxter, who achieved four Grade 9s, one Grade 8 and one Grade 7, said: "I'm so happy with my results and very pleased to be going on to study History, Philosophy and Politics at Tollbar Sixth Form. I'm grateful for all the additional support provided by my teachers and although the revision programme was hard work it's really paid off for me."

Eleanor Grant, who achieved two Grade 9s, four Grade 8s and one Grade 7, said: "There were times when the remote learning made our GCSE studies more challenging, but the teachers provided additional support and were very attentive to our needs. I'm looking forward to starting my Biology, Chemistry and History courses at Tollbar Sixth Form."

Eason Du, who secured three Grade 9s, three Grade 8s and one Grade 7, said: "I'm so pleased with my results. It has been a tough challenge, but over time, with the support of my teachers, I became more confident. I'm looking forward to the next stage of my journey at Tollbar Sixth Form, studying Maths, Physics and Chemistry."

Special mentions must also go to Joshua Franklin, Amber-Lily Pzeniczny-Woods, Gracie Glasson, Isabella Rowson, Euan Klug and McCartney Broughton, who excelled in their studies.

Our Principal, Nigel Whittle, said: "Many congratulations to our incredible students. So many of them have achieved the very top grades today and it is wonderful to see them celebrating the results of all of their hard work.

"These results represent the outcome of the first set of formal GCSE examinations since the Covid-19 pandemic, following a time of significant disruption for our students. As the results indicate, our students have shown a great deal of resilience and determination in preparation for their exams – they have certainly risen to the challenge.

"Our students are a credit to our community and make the Tollbar Academy team incredibly proud. They can now look forward to the next phase of their education, with many enrolling at our own Sixth Form to study A Levels across a wide range of subjects."
