Academy Licensed To Run The Prestigious DofE Awards Scheme

Tollbar Academy students will have the opportunity to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme this year.

The Academy is now a licensed organisation, which means it can manage and award the prestigious certification. The DofE award equips students with vital skills and qualities that will help them excel in the ‘real world’, improving problem solving, teamwork, planning, physical attributes and community feel, and inspiring future leaders.

Ben Pharaoh, DofE Project Manager at Tollbar Academy, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be able to run this programme and we are looking forward to seeing how our students develop and flourish over this time.”

The scheme will be launched to Year 9 students and Emma Stothard, Operations Officer for the DofE Awards Scheme in the region, visited the academy to present the license to its new Principal Nigel Whittle.

She said: “The DofE scheme is such a worthwhile project for young people to be involved in. It builds confidence and provides so many new skills that young people can take forward into their adult lives.”
